VBS, yes, yes, yes!

Ah, the week I've been anticipating all summer has arrived! It's VBS...vacation bargain school! For a mere pittance, the good Lutheran people take my kids off my hands from 9 till 12:30, freeing me up to do any number of things. CAN I GET AN AMEN?

In summers past, we were more or less VBS gypsies, wandering from the Lutherans to the Baptists to the Methodists, to the Presbyterians. I've cut back now to just one week, but still, there are those who seem suspicious of my motives. Yesterday at the pool, I overheard another mother griping about how she had spent the morning volunteering at VBS and how it seems more and more people are signing up their kids simply as a means for a "mother's morning out." I cowered behind my crossword puzzle and slunk a little lower in my chaise lounge...guilty.

What is worse than her abuse?
Usual quota of misuse.
Pity the poor Lutheran church,
She will leave them in the lurch.
Shopping, brunching while the boys
Plunder, ruin and make noise.
A place in heaven won’t be found,
Irene certainly won’t be crowned.

We attended VBS at the local Baptist church this summer! And a good time was had by all, me included! Enjoy the rest of your mornings without children...what will you do with yourself?

VBS is to help our children to know, love and share the Lord. VBS is not about parents volunteerism -- did you have an option to pay a registration fee or was volunteering required?Instead of burying your nose in the crossword engage in a dialogue with the mother of the misunderstood comments. Each of us has the ability to act as stewards in those areas of need that our talents and gifts lead us.

Why is it that any commenet by Suburban Warrior (the beginning of my blog addiction, btw) always refers back to her pathetic self when she has not posted anything NEW since July 21st, and before that it was a month between postings! Shame on her...while our diligent Irene slaves away with her 3! children (compared to the mere 2 of SW)and manages to attend family functions and do a complete run-through of her upcoming triatholon. Go I-R-E-N-E!

And not to mention, SW lures us to her site by mentioning her "thoughts" on VBS but when you jump over...nothing but driving, blah, driving, blah.

Careful there. Suburban Warrior will lash out on poor Irene if you keep it up. (She does not take criticism well!)
